NEW BEDFORD FIRE BOATS

New Bedford Fireboats
"MARINE 38 & MARINE 41"
The City of New Bedford, Massachusetts operates two fire - rescue boats at this time.

The department took delivery of their new "Marine 38" in August 2016.
Also known as the "Jesse Pacheco, Jr", Marine 38 was built by Moose Boats
in Petaluma, CA and trucked cross country to New Bedford. The M2-38 catamaran
style boat is jet driven, equipped with all the latest electronics and navigation equipment,
and is capable of pumping in excess of 1,500 gpm via (2) deckguns.

The new boat took the place of the former "Marine 31", originally known as "Marine 2"
or the "Robert Gonsalves." That boat originally came from the Boston Fire Department
where it served from 1992 to 2008 as the "St. Florian II."  Upon release from New Bedford,
Marine 31 went to the Fall River FD where it has become their first "Marine 1" in 2016.

The other New Bedford boat is the former USCG 41 footer, the 250 gpm "Marine 41"
aka "Edward C. Spooner" which has served as a search & Rescue and Hazardous Materials
response boat.

Both boats are located at the State Pier off MacArthur Drive in New Bedford.

ALSO INCLUDED on this page are the Fairhaven "Marine 25" located across the harbor
from the New Bedford boats and Dartmouth FD's "Marine 1" which is located west of
New Bedford in South Dartmouth.
